Murray River Clash

Paddlers from across Victoria and beyond are invited back to Yarrawonga for a thrilling weekend of racing as the Murray River Classic Canoe Race and the Murray Quad Sit-on-Top Clash return in January 2027.

The action begins on Saturday, 16 January, with the Murray Quad Sit-on-Top Clash, recognised as the world's only sit-on-top kayak race of its kind. Competitors will battle it out in a fast-paced race around the island within the picturesque Yarrawonga Yacht Club lagoon, creating a fun and spectator-friendly event for paddlers of all ages and abilities.

The excitement continues on Sunday morning with the iconic Murray River Classic, the opening event of the Paddle Victoria Marathon Series. Held on the waters of the mighty Murray River, the race attracts a strong field of competitive and recreational paddlers, with distances catering to a range of skill levels, from newcomers through to elite marathon racers.

Celebrating a long-standing paddling tradition in Yarrawonga, this exciting weekend combines friendly competition, beautiful river scenery, and a vibrant paddling community. Whether you're chasing a podium finish or simply looking to enjoy a great weekend on the water, the Murray River Classic and Murray Quad Clash are events not to be missed.
