Whether you’re chasing adrenaline or simply looking to try something new, the region delivers experiences that suit all levels of adventure.

Lake Mulwala is a stunning man-made lake located on the Murray River between the twin towns of Yarrawonga, Victoria, and Mulwala, New South Wales. Created in 1939 following the construction of the Yarrawonga Weir, the lake covers approximately 4,750 hectares and is one of the most popular recreational waterways in the Murray region.

Known for its distinctive landscape of submerged river red gum trees, Lake Mulwala offers breathtaking scenery and provides a habitat for a wide variety of native birds, fish, and wildlife. The lake's calm waters and picturesque shoreline make it a favourite destination for boating, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, and other water-based activities.

The lake is particularly renowned for its excellent fishing, attracting anglers from across Australia in search of Murray cod, golden perch (yellowbelly), and other native fish species. Its extensive waterways, coves, and natural wetlands create ideal conditions for both recreational fishing and wildlife observation.

Surrounded by parks, reserves, walking trails, and holiday accommodation, Lake Mulwala serves as the heart of the Yarrawonga-Mulwala region. Visitors can enjoy scenic cruises, lakeside dining, camping, and stunning sunsets reflected across the water and iconic red gum forests.

Today, Lake Mulwala is recognised as one of regional Australia's premier holiday destinations, offering a unique combination of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, environmental significance, and relaxed waterfront living.
