"Whether you call my style naive, contemporary or impressionist is up to you, I just call it my own."
I paint because I love to paint, simple. Living in Yarrawonga, in Northern Victoria on the Murray River, is an endless source of inspiration. Because of this, I mainly like to create contemporary Australian landscape pieces, full of vibrant colours. Although I have recently experimented with more earthy tones & these look great hanging with a spotlight on them as they really come to life at night.
I have also painted many contemporary flower paintings. These usually have a lot of colour and texture too, and with a spotlight on them, they come to life with lots of lights and shadows. They're very vibrant and quite popular.
In all my paintings there is colour and lots of it! Whenever I paint something in subtle tones I usually end up painting over it or highlighting it with bold colours, I'm enjoying experimenting with different colour tones, having been greatly influenced by one of Australia's great painters, "Fred Williams". My paintings often reveal a lot of texture also, the way different lights can play with a painting and change it's mood intrigues me, it also gives a painting depth.
I am happy to do commissions, but I won't try to replicate a painting as it often disappoints, and I think it is unfair to the original artwork. I can however, do something similiar and in the same colours as this way they are always originals.
I have paintings hanging in "Main Street" gallery in Rutherglen. I also have works displayed in Yarrawonga at the Tourist Information Centre, Shop 2 Fashions, Bank Boutique, Courtyard Cafe and several in Blue Door cafe in Berrigan.
