






Yarrawonga Regional Park
Length of walk: 3.5km
Starting at the downstream end of the Yarrawonga Caravan Park, this walking trail takes you into a typical redgum forest with its magnificent birdlife and statuesque trees that line the banks of the mighty Murray River. This popular park (also called The Common) is a haven for visitors, especially during the summer months when it becomes a "tent city", so if you've brought the dog, be sure it's under strict control.
Chinaman's Island Walking Track
Length of walk: 2km
This 2km walk is an easy stroll for children, elderly or people confined to a wheelchair. The wide, smooth track is accessible in all weather conditions. The lake at Chinaman's Island also teems with a multitude of wondrous bird life such as cockatoos, galahs, water birds, thornbills, white ibis, herons, pelicans, swans, etc. Well worth a visit.
Savernake Station Forest
An awesome 40 hectares of native vegetation featuring tall pines and varied understorey, home to over 120 bird species and a lengthening list of over 200 flora species is well worth a visit. Tours (by PRIOR ARRANGEMENT - ph (02) 6035 9415) through this area take approximately 90 minutes at an easy walking pace.
